Facebook Fast

I went on a Facebook fast on Friday, March 19, 2010. I can't believe it was only a week ago! It seems like an eternity-but that's because I only logged on to Facebook every free moment I was on the internet, which probably averaged 2-3 times a day. No wonder it was hard to suddenly drop it! Of course, though, it would be difficult to suddenly drop anything which you have become so attached to. :-)
Just two more weeks of teaching! In fact, this is my last weekend for planning lesson plans. I am going to do 5 lessons for my last week, but of course it won't be any sort of work and planning that I've been doing for the last 10 weeks. I have a few more lessons to write and get ready, but I've learned how long each one takes, so I can more wisely determine my course of action for my day.

Facebook Fast

Wow! I randomly decided last Friday to go on a "fast" from Facebook for 3 weeks until I am finished student teaching. This has been the hardest three days of my life on the internet! I was in such a habit of checking Facebook, often multiple times a day, that now I have to pull myself away before I sign into my FB account out of sheer habit. I am ashamed of how quickly I got addicted to this social website. In fact, I probably wasted more time on here than I have wasted other places during the course of my life.
How many times have I simply logged on to see if someone commented on a post I put up for the sole purpose of seeking to gain ungodly attention? I am ashamed to admit it, but that is the truth. Yes, I am still swamped with busyness as I seek to finish out my last days of student teaching strongly. Yes, ridding myself of this Facebook addiction is hard. However, it is an awesome feeling to seek strength from the Lord during this time of trials in my life.
He will lift you up and give you all the strength you need if you just ask Him. Quitting Facebook for three weeks is just another area where I am sure God will teach me to grow in Him and seek His face more. May His name be praised forever and ever! For He has done great things. God IS in the business of saving lives.
